I love trying on words until they become the image I want to communicate. Sometimes I imagine how my family would behave if the decade was different, if we’d never moved in 2013, and fit in those conversations. A few of my latest pieces are linked below!
It’s 1990 and Your Mother Dreams of Being on TV (poem on Yellowface in Hollywood)
A Reverse Chronology of Carsickness (short story tracing back 70 years)
Hundreds (coming-of-age flash fiction in Eucalyptus Lit)
Dance
Inspired by Dance Moms and the vlogging channel Bratayley, I spent my recesses practicing back walkovers with my friends. I do dance for the adrenaline. For knowing that I’m a moving piece of a larger scene. It’s a way for me to discover new music and convey its story through movement. It’s also given me an incredibly supportive community that has brought me to UBC, KAR Nationals in Florida, and several conventions.
